About Us

The Lions Club of Ivybridge has been serving for over 10 years, the club was first formed in 2000 and is part of District 105SW which is a district that covers Cornwall, Devon and part of Somerset.

What Do We Do?

Every year we raise thousands of pounds which are donated to many local, national and international worthy causes. We also pride ourselves in giving out time to helping other people in our local community.

Lions can be seen regularly, doing bucket collections to raise funds in and around Ivybridge. We often get involved in local events where we run games and other fun activities.

We help the local community through ‘Message in a Bottle’ which assist the emergency services. We help various groups and individuals by volunteering our services and time.

We collect thousands of pairs of spectacles which are passed onto the third world.

Club History

The Lions club of Ivybridge formed in the millennium year. Our first meeting was convened at ‘The Old Smithy’ in Ivybridge on 23rd May 2000.

Formation day was on the 5th June with our formation night being held in the Westward Inn at  Lee Mill on 7th July.  Charter night was held at the New Country Inn at Smithleigh on 23rd September 2000. The club has seen members come and go, a handful of Charter members still remain with the club and have seen the club develop from strength to strength.

The club has recently moved into the modern era with the introduction of a Facebook Group and a Twitter Account.  We hope you’ll follow us online as we move with the times.

The club currently meet on the 4th Thursday of every month at 20:00 in the Watermark, Ivybridge. The club is now over 10 years old and continues to grow from strength to strength.

The “Lion”

The Lion is our club Mascot, Look out for Lion throughout the town, the Lion doesn’t bite just give the Lion a little wave. You may’ve seen the “Lion” at the Lions Funday, Christmas Parade or even Morrisons Outland Road. Find the Lion on Facebook, look for “Ivybridge Lion”

The layout and design of this website reflects on the club members attitudes. Have fun, whilst serving.
